PETRA

Petra is an ancient city in southern Jordan known for its rock-cut architecture and historical significance as the capital of the Nabataean Kingdom. Recognized as one of the Seven Wonders of the World, it was a vital trading center that flourished over 2,000 years ago.

Petra has biblical significance as it is identified with the Hebrew name Sela ("rock"), the location of Mount Hor, and a site associated with the Edomites and the biblical Exodus. The ancient city was situated in the land of the Edomites, descendants of Esau, and is traditionally linked to events from Moses' life, including the story of him striking the rock for water and the burial of his brother Aaron at Mount Hor, or Jabal Haroun. Some modern interpretations also see Petra as a potential place of refuge for the faithful during end-times events
